Appointment of Kim Ryan as Vice President for Human Resources

Message from Michael W. Howard, Executive Vice President

Dear members of the Tufts University community,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Kim Ryan as the university’s next vice president for human resources, effective July 20, 2020.

Kim has extensive experience as a leader in human resources, serving as vice president for human resources at both Campbell Soup Company and Pepperidge Farm Inc., a subsidiary of Campbell Soup. Kim also served as director for human resources of Pepperidge Farm’s Sales and Retail Stores as well as director for human resources at Georgia Pacific. Kim will bring core strengths of engaging leadership, change management, strategic workforce planning, talent management and organization design. In her previous positions, she improved talent acquisition capabilities, created and implemented the first global diversity and inclusion strategy for Campbell Soup, created leadership development programs and improved performance management and succession planning processes.

Kim has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Syracuse University, as well as numerous professional human resources certifications.

Kim was selected following a national search that yielded a pool of very strong candidates. After a thorough interview process by the search committee and many university leaders, it was clear that Kim’s accomplished record of achievement and her impressive career experiences would position her to assume this critically important role.

I am very grateful to the search committee for its thoughtful assessment and careful evaluation of many qualified candidates.

Sincerely,

Michael W. Howard, Executive Vice President
