Executive Vice President Mike Howard is the chief administrative officer of Tufts University responsible for oversight and coordination of core administrative functions including Audit and Management Advisory ServicesOffice of Strategy & Program DevelopmentFinance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Investment Office Administration, Operations, and  Office of Sustainability.

  • Audit and Management Advisory Services
    Provides internal audit and consulting services to the Tufts community. Independently reviews university operations to strengthen effectiveness in governance, risk management, and internal control processes, and advises on matters of business ethics.
  • Office of University Strategy & Program Development
    Works with the administration, provost, schools, and divisions to support the identification, analysis, and development of innovative and strategic program opportunities that are both complementary to the university’s mission and which will generate significant revenue.
  • Finance
    Manages the fiscal resources of the university ensuring continuous improvement in planning, budgeting, and the efficient allocation of resources while maintaining the financial integrity of Tufts University.
  • Human Resources
    In support of the university’s mission to be a top-quality educational and research institution—and an employer of choice—Human Resources partners with the university’s schools, divisions, and other constituencies to offer an array of programs and services.
  • Information Technology
    Delivers technologies that facilitate teaching, learning, research, administration, and outreach.
  • Operations
    Supports Tufts’ academic and research mission by providing well-maintained facilities; managing the construction of new facilities; providing dining services to students, faculty, and staff; delivering mail; and ensuring a safe and secure campus environment.
  • Office of Sustainability
    Serves as a resource, a catalyst, and an advocate for environmental sustainability at Tufts.
  • Tufts Investment Office
    Oversees investment of the endowment and other long-term financial assets critical to the financial strength of the university. The investment of these assets has a dual objective of providing meaningful and reliable annual financial support to current university operations while preserving the purchasing power of the endowment to support all future generations of students, researchers, and faculty at Tufts.
