Thomas M. Malone Named Vice President for Finance and Treasurer

Dear Tufts community members,

I am pleased to announce that Thomas M. "Tom" Malone has been appointed vice president for finance and treasurer, effective February 16, 2026.

Tom joined Tufts University in 2014 as executive associate dean of Tufts University School of Medicine and in 2022 became executive vice dean of strategy and operations. In these roles, he provided oversight and leadership in financial planning and was instrumental in advancing strategic initiatives. Tom worked closely with faculty and school leadership to support program development, strengthen research operations, and align financial and operational decisions with academic priorities.

In 2024, Tom was appointed executive director of administrative and financial initiatives within the finance division. Based on his extensive experience working collaboratively with academic and administrative units, as well as senior university leadership, he was subsequently appointed vice president for finance and treasurer ad interim in July 2025.

Tom’s deep understanding of the university's financial systems and budget management processes, combined with his experience supporting program development and the operational needs of a complex research enterprise, uniquely positions him to serve as the university's next vice president for finance and treasurer.
